Nico's Little Yellow Boat

Nico held his little yellow bath boat. Dad helped him put on his coat. They went to see Mum.

Mum was in hospital. She had been there for many nights. Dad sat beside Nico. Nico put the boat in Mum's hand.

"For our bath," he said.

Mum moved it across her blanket. "Here is your little yellow boat."

Nico held out her shoes. "Home now."

Dad kept an arm round him. "Mum cannot come home tonight."
