Uma's Wings Can Take Their Time

Ages 4–54 min read

Uma the young griffin hopped from one sofa island to the next. Her wings flapped. Her back paws bounced. Beside Mama sat Dimple, a little cushion with soft corners and a tiny mouth. He gave a whispery giggle whenever Uma landed. Now Mama opened their bedtime book. Uma scrambled up beside her.

She wanted the story about the garden. But her feet kept pattering against the sofa. Her thoughts hurried from flying to flowers to another hop. One wing bumped the book. The page slipped out of Mama's fingers. Uma tucked her wings close. A moment later, they sprang open again.

Sleep tight.
